Rash Ramblings

A runner once, an explorer always!

Hot, Hot, Hot,….!!

These last couple of weeks it has even been hot at 5:00 o’clock in the morning. It just makes it harder to run and running in the afternoon at 100 – 105 degrees is a ludicrous idea. I am thinking now that when you run there is a large mix that comes into play. Weather (ex: temperature) plays a part, as well as conditioning, diet, clothing (including shoes) and location. There may be others, but the major ones affecting me right now are the heat and probably the diet. Just as an automobile will run better on a better mix of fuel, so will our bodies when given the right amount and the right type of food.

I have not been watching the food so much, because all of the other elements are so out of whack. I am looking forward to the middle of September, when I should start being able to gain some ground. As the other stresses on my body are reduced I should be able to both speed up and lengthen my runs. I have seen little visions of my former running style but as of yet have not been to the point to maintain it. I will keep making strides and as I do I will be moved closer to my goal of finishing in the top ten in my age group at the Capitol 10,000.
