Rash Ramblings

A runner once, an explorer always!

Cool Running

I was met with a wonderful surprise this morning. The temperature overnight had dropped to 67 degrees. In comparison to recent days, I felt almost cold while running. It gave me a little boost and I had one of  best runs since coming back.

While on the run, I started thinking about something I heard somewhere. It was about how older people are less apt to push themselves. They get to their comfort point or the point where they think, “This is pretty good for my age.” And for the most part there may be no real reason to push past that point. It is not something I think I will be satisfied with. A friend made a posting the other day and it really made a point to me. He said a coach of his said, “Run to win, the rest will take care of itself. Looking back, I don’t think I ever had that philosophy. I was out there to do my best. I may have done better if I had not accepted the fact that there were a few people out there that were better than me. I don’t know if it would have made any difference, but I think it might have.

Anyway, I am looking forward to this Fall weather and a greater intensity in my running. 17:31.74
